It was Maycair's last day on Vegeta, also the day of her final test with King Braccus. In their time getting to know one another Maycair had grown a great level of respect for the man. He certainly cared for his people, this planet. To what degree she wasn't actually sure, maybe it was a duty or it was genuine care. It wasn't exactly shown in kindness, he was always one to remind her she was a halfling. Despite the doubts that were brought upon the King at first, around every challenge May had proven herself capable, not just in performance but in attitude. Pride was something he tried to stoke in her, if she was going to represent the Saiyans in any way it was to be with pride. For far too long had May been looked down upon, so she wasn't going to argue with finally earning some self-confidence. That was arguably the biggest growth that she had undergone, even more so than her actual strength. That was explosive in its own right but she was basically a new woman. Her muscle, her body felt more toned than ever after living under such intense gravity, taking it further with her training chamber. Each day, each session they had done Braccus demanded more from May. It was the catalyst, the spark that had led to everything up to this moment. It was only the morning, in which most sessions began but this last day was different. The king had a meeting, with some of his elites, one in which even a guard wasn't allowed. Probably to discuss the last damage brought upon by the tree of might. Once that was done, later in the evening they would meet t see how well May could execute the Galick gun. She was sure it would go fine, but her stomach was uneasy.
The kitchen was busy, for once it wasn't the Hybrid cooking dinner. Maybe it was too late, or they had been impatient but it was strange to see Razz and Logan cooking up breakfast. They had taken a habit of living here after everything that happened, sure it was a little strange but something at their home seemed a little unstable. When Logan returned, he was nearly a ghost but the real worry was the other night when Razz had finally returned. The older Saiyan brother came home covered in blood, bruised as if he had been put through the wringer. When they rushed to get him they needed to bind broken ribs and sew gashes along his chest. It was stressful, when all was said and done there was no explanation. The only words she got were that they would explain soon. He was healed enough yesterday but they didn't talk too much. Most of the time they all stayed in their rooms prepping for the departure. To their credit, it was only yesterday when they agreed to come to earth with May, it was more imposing but it seemed better for their health.
While they spent the whole day packing, she had been gathering supplies for the week-long flight. Zaks was coming along too, four people in an attack ship were quite crowded. There was also the potentiality of how hungry they would all be, training would be non-stop during their travel time. There was never time to rest, to really recuperate maybe that's why those two wanted to escape. It was better to just let it happen than to keep pondering so many possibilities. "Good morning you two, I hope you managed to get some sleep last night with how long you spent packing. I hope you're not already cooking up all the food I bought, it's supposed to last the whole trip you know." Maycair had joked with the pair.
Razz would respond first. "We actually went to the market this morning to get this stuff for breakfast, I had a feeling you'd complain if we started digging into rations already." There was obvious humor to his tone, it was good that his spirits seemed to be still. Though sometimes it was easier to make jokes than actually confront the issue. Logan would chime in as well "Besides your food is okay tasting but we wanted to show you how to actually cook our food instead of always making such strange dishes."
"Say that all you like, but since you've started living here my rice has been being consumed at a rate scary even for three people. And don't try and blame it on the training bot, I don't think there's anything TD can use it for, its okay to admit you like my food." May snapped back, they were almost out it was her favorite food too. Still, whatever Razz was cooking up smelled like it was going to be pretty yummy.
"Sit down, it's almost done, you're always making food or snacks for all of us so it's about time we return the favor. We like to fight but it's not like we don't understand common courtesy, It'll be better than you imagine but probably not as good as if he had a cook." Razz said while ushering May to sit down.
That sounded like such a rich boy statement to make, but she would take her place at the table as a steaming plate was placed for them all. The smells were rather delectable, there was another spiky plant of some kind that had been diced to small bite-size pieces while plated over a rather bouncy blue grain, it was a strange array of colors. The most off-putting thing about the whole meal was probably that presented over the whole dish was a yellow, oozing cut of meat that still bubbled with the heat it had just been under. It was difficult to get used to such things on this planet, like where they sourced their food but it did often prove to taste good. She just had to take the brave step of putting it into her body, of risking what flavors these two wished to explore. They never expressed culinary interest so it was interesting.
She would poke at the food, prodding it with her fork in interest. There was little to be gained from just playing with her food. Taking the risk of a first bite Maycair would dig in, hesitantly bringing it up to her lips. After what felt like way too long of wait she shoved it down her throat. A gag would come at first, until she realized how good it was. The meat was smoky with a natural sweetness that was enhanced by the mild but fresh flavors the herbs provided. The sauce was just thick enough to cover the palate, delivery a feeling of comfort across her whole body. "Who know you guys could cook, maybe you should make the meals for the week!" She spoke up, digging in further to the plate of food.
"You don't have to act that surprised, we do understand taste" Logan said with a bit of a frown.
"Don't be too mad at her brother, she's been having to learn to make do with what our planet offers so how is she supposed to know. In seriousness glad to enjoy the meal, it was our moms favorite to make. It's good comfort food and I thought we were all in need of that. It's been some tiring days." Razz said. He sat down with his plate, for a moment they all sat in peace, enjoying their food. After most of their plates were gone Razz would be ready to explain.
"Since we're gonna be following you to your home, it's only fair I hold up to my word and tell you what happened while we were gone." Razz spoke, his face a sheet of slate stuck in a gaunt glare.
"It's okay, you don't have to force yoursel-" May would be interrupted by Razz. "No worries" he continued "I want to tell you this, we trust you after we've been sharing so much of our lives."
His words made Maycair blush a little, but it wasn't enough to derail the conversation. With open ears she would listen to Razz's story. "As you may recall we had a family meeting a couple of weeks ago. We were called because our clan has been splitting between sides. Our father, and various other members of the family were starting an anti-king faction. Not much, mostly just to give him trouble or that's how it seemed at first. When we arrived everything was fine, then slowly poison began to drip in. Everyone in our family was aware of our status training with King Braccus. They asked personal things, information neither of us would hold but it didn't stop them. Slowly the badgering turned to straight harassment. Our grandmother didn't wish to see family fighting so she kept it in line, for the most part. As time continued it worsened to more severe degrees. Soon we were jumped now and then, we fought back managing to placate things. The issue was our father seemed to be up to more than we realized. After my suspicions continued raise I sent Logan back to you for him to stay safe. The next issue was getting myself out. My father kept an iron thumb on me, using our sister to try and keep a tight leash. I wad caught, beaten and then escaped the second time out. We stand at a stalemate, they're only waiting, preparing to hide when the time is right. So, we need to leave this planet, to see what potential the universe offers to us. That's why we wish to return with you, to continue training with you."
It was a bit to take in, but she was more than familiar with dysfunctional families. Words were hard to find in a situation like that. Rejection from your family wasn't an easy feeling. To feel so secluded by those meant to be your safety net. It was all too sad. She had spent far too long struggling with it herself, she didn't wish for the young saiyans to beat themselves up. What they were doing was best for them, but they stood by Braccus so there was no plan for them to betray their king. The brother's hearts were not so easily swayed by those who wished to control them. If they lost faith it would from their own choice. Disgruntled family would give over their issues eventually.
"I don't know what to do, what to say besides I have some understanding of how it feels to tossed aside or mistreated by family because you don't agree. I was meant to be my dad's weapon, another body to take out whatever, whoever he wanted without a hesitation. I wasn't strong enough then, he may be gone now but I am proud of the strength of gained from trying to over come such an intense self doubt. These memories may linger but we can always make new ones." May spoke. She was trying to offer some comfort to the both, she was unsure if they would find any in her words. Still, it was realizing, knowing you had something to grow from that was the first step. It was when you noticed and took that step for independence that things would begin to change.
“Well there’s no need to sit around mopping any longer than we need to. If we’re gonna protect what we care about, if we wish to carry ourselves with pride then we need to do our best when it comes to training. TD and the King apparently have something extra special cooked up for us today, well me. For once you shouldn’t be targets in anyway so you’ll be able to sit back and watch the chaos unfold, or whatever it is that the two of them have planned for these extra special events. Most likely they’re gonna test how well I can perform the Galick Gun or how resourceful I can be in a fight. Either way I imagine its going to be a fun show for the both of you. So, since we’re almost done lets get headed over to the Gravitron chamber before he gets here, maybe being prepared will put him in a good more for once.” May joked, sitting up to scarf down what food was left upon her plate. It was a good meal for sure, now they just had to make good use of all that extra energy.
They made their way over to the gravitron, TD was like always in there already. What was strange, was he wasn’t doing any repairs, well not on the chamber. It seemed he was doing some type of repairs on himself it wasn’t out of the ordinary for him to sometimes to self maintenance but normally May handled work on him, when she didn’t the machine tended to inform her of whatever updates were going to be performed. It would cause a bit of sckeptism to grow in her heart. What could the machine be up to? Anything was possible, she wasn’t machinist but May had little trust for him despite being programmed. It wasn’t malicious, but he had a habit of finding ways to get back at her while they were in their training sessions.
The doors would sling open, the moment they all stepped in the increased gravity almost made them drop. It would’ve been nice warning to know he had already had the room set to max, maybe that was to keep them on their toes but you never really knew with TD. “Good morning bud I see you’re ready to get to work. King Braccus isn’t quite here yet but I imagine he’s going to arrive soon. I hope you’re excited over our last training session, should be one of the last times you have to worry about getting an ass wooping.” It was a bit of a joke, but it was reaching the point where he wasn’t doing much for her in their matches. It wouldn’t be much longer until she would surpass what he was able to provide in terms of combat skills.
He seemed to have his own opinions on her jokes but the machine kept it to himself. He wasn’t much of a talker, but then again he wasn’t really installed with a voice module so it would’ve been strange if he ahd been. Still, she had grown close to TD and was appreciating his company. Even if he ran out his usefulness as a partner he was a friend, one that she would keep around her ship and home. He deserved to feel like he belonged, after this session she actually had a surprise for him. She had gotten a new personality chip so he could develop one on his own, decide how he wished to look as well, rather than look like people she would want to clobber the snot out of.
He would probably enjoy having more freedom, but that would be a fun surprise for after the match. Razz and Logan would make their way to the sidelines wanting to relax. They had certainly done more than their fair share of fighting, so it would be more than nice for the pair of them to have some time to relax actually. There weren't many places to relax, but some make shift seats had been made so that when someone needed to rest they could. How much relaxation could one really get while being exerted under 75x time the planet's gravity?
Macworld prep by making sure her weights were on tightly. Recently she had fought without them, the day she broke the tree something awoke inside her. To feel such raw power, to feel how strong she could really be, what was her cap? How strong could she really be? The power from the fruit was such a leap she could only wonder what else would grow, would sprout from within. It was a terrifying prospect as much as it was exciting. She could only hope to live long enough to see it, for the power she was nurturing could also attract unwanted attention. May had been subject to the qualms of those who had natural issue with her. Enough of her life had been spent running away, now she could stand strong but it didn't mean she was invisible. There were forces that could still wipe the ground with her.
She kept these thoughts to herself but only for so long could she do that. For the sound of a doorbell would ding dong through the halls. It sounded like the King had arrived, the doors would open on their own as the automatic setting had already been on. The sound of heavy feet hitting the floor would ring throughout, catching up to them every second. The intensity seeming to grow not just in closeness but speed. Perhaps he was ready to get this over with as quickly as she was? Still it was strange what exactly was going to happen in this session, was she going to manage to live up to expectations?
The pressure was almost scarier than the king, but it all released in a great gush as he walked into the room. Braccus strode into the chamber, not even flinching from the gravity, he surely felt it but there wouldn't be a show of it. He sauntered in as if he was unfazed by the trouble of it, no he was here on a mission. This wasn't a sparring session this was going to be a test of her capabilities, of what she could do. Braccus spoke, his voice pressing with force equal to that of the Gravitron as well. "Today we're doing something extra special, you will be facing me and TD, as you may be aware we've been cooking up something extra special. We'll get started upon that when we're in position, I want you to focus on me, once the fight starts then you can worry about which one of us you want to fight."
Braccus moved forward, around Maycair so that her back would turn towards that of TD. It was so their plan could stay a surprise. She could only wonder what it would be but first, Braccus had more to say. "You've grown more than I could've expected in your time here on our fair planet. Within you there had been clear strength and dedication applied to your training. Not only did you save our planet from brink of destruction you've shown ingenuity towards your training. For the I must commend you, but I have seen that despite your pride fear still resides in your heart. It is that hesitance that may lead to your death. So, not only must you properly perform Galick Gun against one of us, you must face your own fears. Your anxiety, the thing that eats away at your very being once again, you must try to survive!"
Those last words rang like a bell, burning hot with in her ears. It was a strange thing, but it that worry, the dread that began to build. It was pounding, roaring into a great silence. The rooms weight, warmth and touch all seemed vacant from the world. How was she to deal with what was to come, why did it feel here with so much fear? It was terrifying then a voice, clear rang through. A hot knife slicing through the tension, right into her heart it was deathly and scarily familiar.
"Come on little monkey, no need to hide, we're gonna try and have some fun." When she turned around a fist met her face, sending confusion through her body. It was TD, he not only used the image of her father but now he had the voice to match. How could they do such a thing, how was it possible to have such an exact sound that. she hadn't heard in years. Yet, even after ten years since killing him the pain was all too familiar. It was a pain she did not wish to feel, a weakness she did not wish to hold. All the strength in her body began to sap away.
"I'm sure you're wondering how this is possible, how you can hear the voice of your father once more after all these years. Well, we acquired a voice modular for TD. He just finished installing it this morning I can see. I had went around to your clan, they had some minor recordings of his voice it was enough to go off of with their assistance. They were happy to oblige when their king asked so they're a rather helpful bunch. You live in fear, in anger of this man. If you're to be strong you can't just face your fears, you must overcome them. Now, fight!" He would say, walking up to Maycair a swift kick launched her into the ceiling. Before she had the proper chance to response another strike had come from TD. In the guise of her father he would continue to taunt her with such vile words.
"You weren't anything before, you failed as a weapon and as a guard, who cares about destruction if you can't do anything simple right!" TD screamed at Maycair, blasting her with ki. The words were more vile, more sharp than anything they could inflict on her body. The feeling of being small, of feeling ever so weak was something that sapped what will she had. Though it brought up a reminder, a reminiscent feeling that had allowed her to overcome this trial in the first place. It was the struggles, the worry of her father that inspired her in the first place. The flame began to spark ever so slightly, but it was slow. But with each kick, each blast and each strike that drew blood it only began to stoke the flames. She felt weak, she was their target practice to be abused. Just like before, but there was something different now. May had made the choices to grow, to move out in the world. She wasn't just a weak child, a halfling looking for a place in the world. She was certain that she had made the right choice
"You'll always be nothing! You've failed at everything until now! You can't even finish what you've started, go back to the ditches where you belong!" He roared, grabbing Maycair by the arm before tossing him to the King. Braccus blasted her while holding her by the arm. No more would she endure this, no more would she be the dog to be thrown away. It was the coal that final burst the flames to its point, it was upon being tossed once more to machine would the snap finally go off.
"No more, no more shall your words haunt me, shall you live in my head! This is my life, my power, and I will use it as I see fit!" Maycsir roared, kick the false image of her father into the wall. She turned around, the king closing in on her. It was disrespectful but she would backhand him away. "I will not be haunted by ghosts of the past, allowing false specters to rule my life. I came to this planet to find meaning, and peace. I have found truth in the words of a friend, my anger is something I can't be afraid to use. This wrath, this power inside me is what I will use, what I will show against you!"
Something began to change, the air began to thicken with the air of her power. The ground would begin to shake, black snow forming from her ki. "Over and over again I have told myself no more time and time again. Until my power feels like enough, then someone tries to knock me down a peg. I realize now that people will never stop knocking on my door. Well if they wish to come, if they wish to knock and see what I provide. THEN FEEL THE DEMONS WRATH!"
She roared, the black snow began to fill the room as her ki grew to fill it as well. Her hair began to lift, turning to gold. She had ascended to something more, a power beyond that of even the Oozaru. It was the rage of the unheard victim. Well now they would hear her screams, her mighty roar!
"AGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Her voice seemed to radiate even outside that of the ship. The air outside, unaware to them would begin to darken, storms coallescing all around them. The hybrid, the blessed of Makyo would ascend to a legendary status. It was the thing of story, of myth, now it was time to enact that mythical power. She dashed towards TD, grabbing the machine by his arm, throwing him into the king. She would’ve felt guilt, worry for doing something to her friend but blind rage was filling her eyes. It was wrong to deliver so much punishment but this all felt like a cruel joke. So it only felt right to dish it right back at those who wished to get some sort of sick joy out of her.
She still had a goal, something she was supposed to be doing as well. If they wanted to see how well she learned, it was time to show them how strong her Galick Gun would really be. The ki around her would flare, growing to press against the edges of the chamber before she brought it back down. The ki around her took a deep purple hue, it was meant to be a long ranged beam but it would work just as well up close. With a deep breath, she would vent out a great yell. “GALICK GUN!” With those words the blast shot through the chamber, hitting TD out of the training room, the King was just barely missed, he wouldn’t show fear but surprise would surely come on his face upon seeing the strength she had. Even with weights on it was terrifying, what power would she have upon removing them? She felt strong enough to actually train with Liari now.
The majin's words had rested deep within her heart, there was wisdom to them. It was what allowed her to harness such anger, such raw power without feeling like it was wrong. This was her power, her fury to be used as a tool. It was nothing more and nothing less, but it certainly felt intoxicating to have such strength. She wanted to keep up the fight, to keep pounding on the machine but he was out of sight. The most anyone could do now was stare at her with eyes filled with surprise, awe resting on all of their brows. How could you react to such a change, to see someone undergo such a change. She wasn't aware of what she had undergone but maybe they had.
She wasn't going to pressure them for answers, but from the looks on their faces, they didn't really have much to offer besides the shock and awe. It was a good chance for her to stand firm in position. "I think I've more than proven my power, if you wish to poke me I'll show you further what I'm capable of but I've also provided more than enough evidence that I will fight not just for my own sake but for for this planet as well. I've saved it, and when I return I plan to do more for it. I've been grateful for your training my king, but I have to move back to my home to settle some matters there. With this power I have one more bully to face, me and my mother need to spend some quality time together if you don't mind. I guess I'll have to spend a little bit reparing it, but I promise I won't be gone for too long."
Braccus didn't have much of a reason to oppose her, she was his guard but with the work she had done it would be good for the young girl to have some time for herself. From the sounds of it she was going to do more for Vegeta upon her return. That would be good considering the sad state of the planet after the tree of might had set roots. It was good it was gone, but the damage would certainly effect the progression of the planet. How would the USD feel about one of their resources being tapped in such a way? Maycair had to wonder how the PTO and USD would come to clash in the coming days. She was more in the interests of Ika Inc. How would Zero react upon seeing her new form? How would the people of earth feel about all the powerful figures that were popping up over their planet. These were interesting days to come. A smirk appeared on her face, Razz and Logan seemed filled with as much awe as they were filled with fear. The pair was at lost for words, but there was one person who would muster up a response.
Braccus would speak to May. "Very well, I shall see you sooner than either of us may suspect, time is funny like that. You've more than passed your training, but if you turn on me like that again I'll have to turn the whole might of Vegeta on you!" Maybe that was a joke, she wasn't sure in all honesty. Neither one would have time to find out, as Braccus would make his way out from the ship. He would fly back to the palace, maybe to inform the people of this development. She wasn't sure what was going to happen, but this would be the start of a new chapter. Maycair was never happier to be thinking of returning to home. She also didn't expect to see TD wobbling back all battered and bruised. He survived the attack, now missing an arm and a leg. It could be replaced but he no longer looked, or sounded like her father. Or atleast, the groans he made didn't sound much like him.
"Sorry, I hope I did my job right..." he would say, falling over, a crash that would rest with them all.
